This is a terrific story! The writer/director and leading actress, Jasmin Jandreau, as Amelia, somehow manage to make this story of survival a powerful movie about trials and a faith that overcomes all odds. It reels you in and you as the viewer will want to continue to watch to see if Amelia will survive. She must deal with a lack of food, winter weather storms, and the threat of creatures in the woods. Her persistence in trying to start a fire is to be admired. The story begins with her alone and through flashbacks the audience learns that she was a music teacher and that her husband, Levi, wanted to move west from Iowa in order to try to hit it big during the Gold Rush. Her wagon is attacked by Indians and she survives because of being in the back where she was resting.
The theme is faith and a reliance on God instead of giving in to despair. Jasmin Jandreau is terrific in this movie which focuses on one main character, the role of Amelia. The point is well made that God isn’t in the Bible alone or church alone but “everywhere”. “Let God” has earned the “Family-Approved” Seal for all ages from The Dove Foundation. You will enjoy watching this one. It is a triumph in filmmaking. Don’t miss it!
