“The Parables of Jesus” is entertaining and educational. The parables are acted out while Jewish customs and practices of the day are explained by host and narrator Christopher Gornold-Smith. The film goes over seven parables.
In “The Good Samaritan,” Jesus shows a robbed and wounded man who a true neighbor is, teaching us how we should treat others. In “The Unmerciful Servant” Jesus speaks of a king who forgave a man his large debt, but that same man would not forgive a small debt another man owed him. The king then made the unmerciful man pay his debt. In “The Treasure and the Pearl” Jesus teaches about the value of heaven and how it is worth giving up all we have for it. “The Lost Son” is about the prodigal son; how his father loved him so much he forgave his sins. In “The Midnight Visitor” we learn of a man who is determined to visit a friend and we are taught to persevere and to do the right thing. In “The Dinner” we see several friends turn down a man’s dinner offer. So the man brings the poor and disabled and feeds them a rich and wonderful meal. Those who refuse God’s gifts will not receive them, but those who desire them will. Finally, in “The Manager,” we learn about a man who uses kindness and his wit when about to be fired from his job. The lesson is it pays to be clever and kind to people.
