Dove Review

“Tomorrowland” is imaginative with a capital I! The story focuses on a young woman named Casey Newton (Britt Robertson) who is given a small pin from the 1964 World’s Fair. When she touches the pin it whisks her into the future. Casey tries to make sense of how the pin ended up in her hands. Her search leads her to Frank Walker (George Clooney), who was a boy genius/inventor and holds a major key to Casey solving the enigma of the pin. This futuristic film deals with a corrupt government that designs a fatalistic future so the world can begin again. Casey and Frank embark on a major adventure, although quite accidental, to try to save the future.

The special effects in the movie are a feast for the eyes. For example, Casey enters a store called “Blast From the Past,” which has a treasure trove of sci-fi delights including Robby the Robot, the “Lost in Space” robot, R2-D2, Han Solo frozen in carbonite, etc. The film does contain several monologues and is a bit slow-paced in a few scenes, but when it moves, it really moves! There is an action-packed scene with a young Frank Walker learning to operate a rocket jet.

We are pleased to award “Tomorrowland” our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal for ages 12+, as it does contain some language and violence. Let “Tomorrowland” take you to the future!
