Ken Curtis combines his vocational skills with his heart for the Lord to minister to others like him, who are suffering from cancer and the fears that come with it. Curtis, in the midst of his cancer treatments, created three separate DVD series, starting with “Reflections on Psalm 23 For People with Cancer.” The tagline for this series is, “You don’t have to be afraid anymore.” Next, Curtis released the series, “Reflections on the Lord’s Prayer for People with Cancer,” with the tagline, “You don’t have to feel alone anymore.” Seven years into his battle with cancer, Curtis released his third and final DVD series, “Reflections on the Beatitudes for People with Cancer.” The tagline for this series is, “You don’t have to feel angry anymore.” Curtis reflects on the joy and peace that Jesus offered his followers in the Beatitudes, in Matthew 5.
Broken into ten segments, Curtis’s documentary series reflects on each of the eight Beatitudes Christ presented to His followers. Beatitude by Beatitude, promise by promise, Curtis explores the ways in which this comforting sermon applies to the person battling cancer. For the third time, and noticeably weaker, Curtis walks through the Holy Land of Israel and draws upon its history and landscape for illustration. Curtis’s approach is more honest, gentle, loving, and powerful than ever. He is now an old friend and mentor to his audience, and he confides in them once more and exemplifies the joy and peace he has found in the midst of his journey with cancer. He reflects on the promises offered through each Beatitude and encourages sufferers not to lose heart. The Dove Foundation honors the life of Ken Curtis and, in gratitude for his ministry, awards “Reflections on the Beattitudes for People with Cancer” the Faith Friendly Seal of Approval for all ages. This devotional series will help viewers find joy, no matter what type of struggle they face.
