“We The People: The Character Of A Nation: is a collection of six episodes that teach American history. With the help of heroes, patriots, inventors, and the constitution, this nation was built on a strong foundation. This collection is a great insight of what “We the People” need to remember and teach to your youth. Each episode is filled with facts, re-enactments and historians’ recollection of events.

“Episode 1: A More Perfect Union” remembers the people, such as Governor Henry Morris, who revised the articles of the constitution; Henry Knox, who witnessed great historical events under George Washington; and Patricia Wright, an artist. It also discusses the right all people have to vote.

“Episode 2: Establish Justice” discusses slavery, racial differences and separation, not only in every day life but also in religious practice. Our country has dealt with racial problems and gender discrimination throughout its history. In this section, the documentary covers the abolition of slavery and the people, such as Judge Richard Allen, Elizabeth Blackwell and John Parker, who all brought about justice in the U.S.

“Episode 3: Domestic Tranquility” shows that, as patriotism was important to keep the country safe, so was the spirituality of men that led the troops over the years. The people who helped soldiers of the war were just as important, because they gave food, comfort and medical attention and shared their faith with the soldiers.

“Episode 4: Provide for the Common Defense” talks about the ground and defense of our nation. Men and women have become patriotic heroes in many different ways. Soldiers have sacrificed their lives every day for our freedom, and one of our presidents said a public prayer for the country at a very disturbing time. Both of these heroic actions have served as a line of defense to our country.

“Episode 5: Promote the General Welfare” takes a look at the passionate people who influenced America with their inventions, their preaching, and their courage to stand up for the welfare of others. Milton Wright, the father of the Wright brothers, Margaret Knight, Madame CJ Walker and some migrant workers started labor unions to improve living conditions.

“Episode 6: Secure the Blessing of Liberty” discusses the circumstances that have jeopardized our liberties over the years. This section takes a look into what circumstances have disrupted the liberty we take for granted.
