Wish For Christmas

Anna, a high school senior and undeniable queen of campus, has a knack for getting things her way. She even orchestrated her crush, Colton, into asking her to the town’s biggest event, the winter dance. But when the dance is moved to Christmas Eve, Anna’s Christian parents inform her that she can no longer attend, in lieu of a church service. Anna makes a desperate wish that her parents would lose their faith, and her wish is granted. Anna enjoys her newfound freedom until her faithless parents cause Colton and his father to lose their home. Anna embarks on a mission to bring her parents back to their faith. But when her goal fails, she discovers that her own journey needs tending.

Dove Review

Anna is a 17-year-old girl who thinks she knows what’s best for herself. She wants her freedom to do what she pleases and expects others to go along with her plans. However, because of her parents’ strong faith in God, she has to forego a winter dance for a Christmas Eve service at church. Blaming her parents’ faith, she wishes for her parents to lose God in their lives.

Unfortunately, when the wish is granted, Anna finds that things have changed. At first she likes the change, but eventually she realizes it is not for the better. As Anna struggles with what has been given to her, she sees the destruction of the things she loved about her parents. She also discovers the truth about herself, including her selfishness, and the true meaning of Christmas.

“Wish For Christmas” is a story about being careful what you wish for, because it may not benefit those around you. It also shows how faith plays an important part in our lives, particularly when it comes to caring, kindness, and love for others and God. We award this inspiring film the Dove “Faith-Friendly” Seal for all ages.
