Auction makes for some easy watching as viewers are given an insider’s look into auction houses in London, Paris, Geneva, and New York. This series highlights rare works of art, dazzling jewelry, vintage automobiles, sculpture, furniture, and many other impressive collectibles that all sell in auction for a staggering sum.
For instance, episode 1 highlights a gorgeous oil painting by English landscape painter John Constable. This painting had not been seen publicly for 150 years and sells for a fortune—only to disappear once more into a private collection. Later in the series, the best of Scandinavian-designed furniture appears on the auction block as comfortable and functional pieces of art. A stylish upright piano on which the band ABBA composed some of its greatest hits makes an appearance in episode 3, as well as a dazzling early 20th-century sapphire necklace by Bulgari. There seems to be no end to the unique and valuable treasures that Auction is able to capture on film.
