This film has a different take on the story of Ichabod Crane and Sleepy Hollow. I have never thought of this story as a musical or having humor, but “Ichabod!” puts a smile on your face and makes you hum along. The film starts with Washington Irving inviting you in to help him pen the haunting story, “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.” Then as he starts to narrate the story, his imagination comes alive as Irving finds himself a part of the story and sings “Imagine.”
This is the story of Ichabod Crane, his love of worldly possessions, and how he goes about trying to get them. He sets his sights on Katrina Van Tassel, who is in love with Brom Bones, the town’s blacksmith. Katrina has to decide if she should marry Ichabod, whom her parents chose, or go with her own heart. There are many good songs sung that add to the wonder of this film.
