Last Flight Out

Fragmented news reports continue to trickle in from Colombia. Guerrilla fighters and drug runners have taken over remote sections of the jungle, terrorizing villagers and enslaving workers.

That's bad news for the family of Ann Williams (Bobbie Phillips, "The Cape"), a medical missionary stationed in the remote village of Alto Risco. At last report, a gang of drug runners lead by the notorious General Salazar (Rene Moreno, "Band of Brothers") were closing in on Ann's village.

Running out of time, Ann's father, Tony (Cliff DeYoung, "Suicide Kings"), turns to an old friend for help—washed-up pilot and Ann's ex-boyfriend Dan Hogan (Richard Tyson, "Black Hawk Down"). A commercial accident reduced Dan's career to repo work—stealing jets back from delinquent buyers—but now he's headed deep into the jungle on a sketchy mission to rescue the woman he once loved.

At a final fuel stop Dan picks up a much-needed guide, missionary dentist and non-stop talker Dr. Mateo Barrero (Adriano Gonzalez, "Havana"), who will guide Dan to the unknown dangers awaiting them at Alto Risco.

Dove Review

This Fox title is dramatically told with a tight and interesting story. A man’s daughter, Dr. Ann Williams, is in Alto Risco, serving as a doctor and missionary. An evil tyrant named Salazar plots to take over the village where she and others live. He has already killed. Anne’s father, Tony, sends her ex-boyfriend Dan Hogan over by plane to attempt to rescue her and bring her home. Dan’s life is changed by Anne and another missionary, Mateo, as he sees the sacrifices they make.

There are some violent moments, including a couple of people being struck, and some bloodshed. Two main characters are shot but there is not gratuitous blood; still, due to the moments of violence, the film is recommended for ages twelve and up. Two other people who viewed this movie told me they were on the edge of their seats to see the conclusion. I believe the story is that good.
