Sally Anns Diary (Manuscript)

On a frosty morning in 1868 the Barker family begins their long journey. Leaving behind the family farm in Farmville, Virginia, they move west to California. Seven family members and one hired hand endure the trials and hardships, and when the journey is over the family has been reduced to only two members and the hired hand. The journey is recorded along the way, thus preserving their heritage for future generations of Barkers.

Dove Review

This adventurous story has an interesting concept. Passing a diary down from generation to generation is something all families should do – that way the story can be told as it happened. “Sally Ann’s Diary” is a good story that could be expanded into a series like “Little House on the Prairie”.

To Author: The story-line is good but needs more dialogue. The story could be more adventurous and in-depth. This is a story about a family moving across country. It could use more details.
