“The Happy Elf” is a computer animated movie narrated by Harry Connick Jr. The story is cute and the graphics are well done. The residents of Bluesville live where there is no sunshine and no Christmas and as a result, they are misbehaved, sad and mean. This all changes when The Happy Elf decides to pay a visit and get the kids to behave in order to be put on Santa’s “nice” list and therefore receive their first Christmas gifts.
There is a little bit of adult-type humor such as an elf getting hit below the belt with coal, but overall it is a clean, family-focused movie. The Bluesville children are pretty rotten at first, but end up finding the “Christmas spirit” and the town does a 180. It is a great Christmas story about the power of fun and kindness and keeping a childlike heart. “The Happy Elf” is easily approved by Dove for a night of family fun!
