The Tooth Fairy Legend (Illustrated)

Dr. Mac, a dentist, wanted to give his patients and children everywhere a story to sink their teeth into, so he wrote "The Tooth Fairy Legend." Dr. Mac is the pen name used by Francis B. McAllister, D.D.S. and Frances A. McAllister, Ph.D, his wife, who co-wrote various books with her husband. The McAllisters' son, Stephen, illustrated the book. The story reveals the genesis of the Tooth Fairy, and how the Fairy began removing milk teeth from under children's pillows at night and left change in exchange for the money.

Dove Review

This story gives us the origins of the Tooth Fairy, and it is vividly written by Dr. Mac. There are some wonderful moments in the book. We learn exactly how the Tooth Fairy became the Tooth Fairy, and began collecting children’s milk teeth and leaving coins in exchange for them.

We want to note that there are evil spirits in the story, an allegory of the evil which fights against the good. We read of dwarfs, griffins, and ghouls. This is obviously a fantasy story and, without giving the ending away, it is obvious that good will triumph at the conclusion. This book is lavishly illustrated with great images by Stephen McAllister, Dr. Mac’s son. This story is a fascinating one and we award our Dove Seal to this book.
