Being a big fan of Fred Astair’s, I enjoy watching his musical steps in those movies of the 40’s even if they might not be in color. Even though musicals of the 1940’s did not have the greatest scripts in the world, it seems that the music and the dancing had everyone spellbound. I had not seen this movie before so it was new to me. I have to admit I loved the dancing like always but this would never become one of my favorites.
When watching a movie from a different era, it is amazing how different they are from what is shown today. It is implied that a married man has affairs but nothing is every shown except possibly the presents that he buys. He always gets caught by his wife in his lies and has to tell the truth to someone about what has happened. I can only imagine what might have been shown if this was a movie of today.
Fred Astair has great dance steps and gets out of some comical situations to get the girl of his dreams, making this one of the classics of its time. It is awarded the Dove “Family-Approved” Seal for 12+.
