Greater Yes, A: The Amy Newhouse Story

Amy Newhouse lives a blessed life. At 16 years old, her popularity is unmatched. She has a loving family and a handsome boyfriend. She is pretty with an infectious personality. Her prayers are always answered. Amy wants to see a change. She prays for Pampa High School every night.

Amy travels to Africa for missionary work and comes back more determined than ever. No longer will she back down. Everything must come second, including her boyfriend and family, to leading a revival of spirit in the beaten town. In the process, she alienates her loved ones. She no longer devotes time to her friends. She is more likely to confront someone and back them into a corner. Her popularity wanes. She is challenged to consider what matters most. Digging in, she decides to carry on with her crusade. But just as she begins to see progress, she receives tragic news. The doctor tells her she has cancer.

Amy gets worse and the faith of the people begins to wane. But Amy never falters. She touched people in ways they might not have even noticed themselves. Pampa High School indeed had its revival, even if Amy didn’t realize it. God had a “Greater Yes” planned after all.

Dove Review

This story will move believers and non-believers alike. Amy Newhouse was no ordinary young girl. She was full of commitment, love, hope and faith. Amy believed in the Lord to the fullest and knew that He had a plan for her. She always knew that God would answer her prayers. With that commitment of love and faith, the Lord tested her and those around her to the fullest.

This is a movie filled with joy and sorrow, and it will have you smiling at times and crying at others. We all know that God has a plan for us and he does answer prayer but not always in the way we hope for. “A Greater Yes” shows how the faith of one affected the beliefs of so many. Dove proudly awards this movie our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal. We must caution parents that this movie does display the effects of cancer on a child that may be upsetting to younger children.
