Dove Review

This is a terrific story. Jimmy Davis (Tyler Roberds) works at a pawn shop with Harvey (Jack Mishler), the owner who took him in when his parents left him behind as a teen. Harvey is the only true father Jimmy has known and they spend a lot of time playing chess together. When tragedy strikes, Jimmy decides to pull up stakes for a time and heads out on a bus for a change of scenery and to find himself. He winds up working for an elderly lady named Wanda (Jo Anna Holt Mishler) and he makes a diffrence in her pawn shop as he brings updated technology to her older business, including a fax machine and a computer. He meets a young woman named Lindsey (Jami Harris) with whom he plays chess (something he has missed) and a bit of mystery surrounds her and her past. She is slow to open up to people but Jimmy is the right one to get her to do so.

This wonderful story answers the questions which the plot sets up by film’s end and we even learn of a tie between Wanda and the recently departed Harvey. The acting is solid, the story engaging, and we are pleased to award our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal to this inspiring story for all ages. The very young might find it slow moving, but a lot of kids will enjoy it along with the grown-ups.
