Dove Review

Episode One- Creation
God created the world in six days, the heavens, the earth and every living thing, including Adam, who lives in the Garden of Eden. God decided that it was not good for Adam to be alone, so he created Eve from Adam’s rib as a companion. He placed a tree in the middle of the garden and told Adam and Eve to never eat its fruit. A wicked serpent tricks Eve into eating a fruit from the tree and giving it to Adam to eat too. God becomes angry and sends them away from the Garden of Eden and they find that disobeying God costs a very high price.

Episode Two- Voyage of the Ark
Mankind has become very evil, and God decides to start over with only Noah and his family. He tells Noah to build a huge ark and take two of every kind of animal into the ark. A mighty flood is coming that will destroy all of mankind. When the flood ends, God creates the first rainbow, promising to never destroy the earth with a flood again. God’s love allows for a second chance for mankind to once again follow after him.

Episode Three- Towering Pride and True Lies
Long after the flood, Noah’s family spreads out into new nation. Their hearts begin to once again turn away from God and they become arrogant and prideful. They decide to challenge God by building a towering city that will reach to the sky. Instead, God teaches them a lesson by causing everyone to speak in different language while they are working. Confusion is everywhere, and the Tower of Babel is abandoned. Time passes, and Abraham is instructed by God to leave everything that is familiar because he was going to become a great nation. The promise seems impossible because Abraham and his wife have no children of their own and they are now very old. They struggle to believe God’s word for them and begin to take matters into their own hands- with disastrous results.

Episode Four- Rain of Fire
Time passes and we find that God is once again unable to tolerate the evilness of the people. He decides to destroy the wicked cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and tells Abraham to find at least ten righteous citizens and he will not destroy the cities. Abraham isn’t able to find even one good man so he tells his nephew Lot and his family to flee the city and never look back! Fire begins to rain on the cities as they flee. Lot’s wife can’t resist looking back just one time to see the destruction of her home and she turns into a pillar of salt! God’s love gave them a way of escape from great evil and certain death- but with a look back she gave up her chance to live and start anew.

Episode Five- Brothers at War
This episode continues the story of Abraham’s descendants. Isaac, Abraham’s son, has twin boys who are rivals from their birth. First Jacob takes Esau’s birthright and has to flee for his life, only to be tricked by his uncle. Jacob wrestles with God for purpose and destiny as he travels to meet with Esau. Jacob loves God but continually wants his own way, and often will not stop to get it. God’s love and mercy continues to follow him and bless him in spite of himself.

Episode Six- Joseph the Dream Reader
Jacob’s legacy continues with a large family and may sons. Joseph is his most loved son and he is favored by his father above the rest of the family. He is a dreamer and his brothers soon tire of him – deciding to sell him into slavery to Egyptian traders. Soon this son of Jacob becomes a slave in a foreign land- forgotten and abandoned. In the midst of this dark time God reaches his hand to give him favor as he is placed in a position of great authority within Egypt. However, once again he reaches bottom as he is unjustly accused and thrown into jail. It is while he is in jail he called on to interpret the dreams of the Pharaoh and finally triumphs to become in charge of Egypt, second only to Pharaoh himself! God’s plan for his chosen people begins to unfold as we see God use Jacob to save his people from certain death.
