This two-part story focuses on two different characters, Sam and Brett. In part one, Sam briefly meets Brett at an interview for a job he wants very badly. When Sam goes in for his interview he is surprised that he is asked to name a weakness and to focus on it, not any of his strengths. The man asking the questions is Dan Weeks, Brett’s older brother, who helps Brett out with cash and good advice although Brett sleeps in late, doesn’t work and parties a lot. But in this first story Sam is the focus and he says his weakness is the way he was raised. He was brought up in an abusive home in which his father had left, his mother had died, and his grandfather and siblings verbally and physically abused him.
Young Sam has an attitude as we see in flashback scenes. His teacher, Mrs. Carroll, doesn’t like him. But when Sam’s file is given to her and she learns of his abuse she has a change of heart and defends him when he is in danger of being expelled from school due to some graffiti he left on the school wall. She fights for him and his future and is the kind of teacher any kid would want on his/her side. The ending is happy for Sam.
In episode two on the disc, Brett learns a relative is dying and Brett can gain his wealth. But he is sent on a bit of a scavenger hunt first, having to contact various people and then learning the name of the subsequent person he is to seek out. He is angry about this at first, but as he travels he meets certain people and is faced with certain situations that literally change his outlook on life. He is soon rid of his anger and ready to finally grow up and be a man.
These programs are interesting and include fantastic themes such as believing in someone and having the capacity to change and to discover new things in life. We recommend this inspiring DVD and are happy to award our Dove Seal to it. This DVD is a good tool to use to teach motivation.
