Ill Be Home for Christmas

What the community of St. Nicholas, Iowa, lacks in size, it makes up for in enthusiasm. So when the mayor and local veterinarian, Sarah (Ann Jillian), reveals that a doctor is needed to keep the area hospital open, the town jumps at the chance to fill the position. The top candidate is hometown hero Mike (Robert Hays), the widower son of a local man (Jack Palance), who is a practicing surgeon in the city. St. Nicholas welcomes Mike and his daughter with open arms when they visit for Christmas, but moving back to town permanently is more complicated than it seems. Since losing his wife, Mike has struggled in his profession and his love life…both of which he must confront if he returns to St. Nicholas for good.

Dove Review

This is a terrific holiday movie and is a good watch any time! Dr. Mike (Robert Hays) has come home to St. Nicholas, Iowa, to visit his father for Christmas. His father Bob (Jack Palance) is hopeful his son, a successful surgeon in Minnesota, might return to his old hometown as does his former High School girlfriend, Sarah (Ann Jillian), who is now the local vet as well as mayor.

The people of St. Nicholas all love Dr. Mike and with the recent passing of their only doctor they all want Mike to take over the hospital or it might have to close. Mike has other plans even though he sees how acclimated his daughter Jilly becomes to the people and the town. When a romance reignites between Sarah and Dr. Mike, he realizes he has to let his former wife Laurie, who passed away some years earlier from cancer, go. But can he do that?

This is a wonderful family program, wholesome and well-acted, and we highly recommend it. We gladly award it our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal. This movie shows that you can go home again.
