Courage, New Hampshire: The Road to Revolution

Tavern keeper and justice of the peace Silas Rhodes (James Riley), alongside British deserter Bob Wheedle (Nathan Kershaw) lead a band of rebel underground soldiers known as "The Sons of Liberty," in acts of midnight justice against royal officials attempting to enforce unpopular law, in the pre-revolutionary New England township, Courage, New Hampshire. Tales depicting daily life in this 18th century early American township mixed with the turmoil of pre-revolutionary war in accurate historical detail, provide a storyline filled with intrigue, politics, family-life and romance in this colonial period drama series.

Episode 1: In the winter of 1770, the township of Courage lies on the raw edge of the frontier, in western New Hampshire. When a detachment of British soldiers arrive in search of deserters, they fail to catch their quarry, but one of them does catch the eye of the justice of the peace.

Dove Review

Alexandra Oliver gives a strong performance as Sarah Pine, who has had a child out of wedlock, a child whose father is a British soldier, Bob Wheedle (Nathan Kershaw). She wants marriage and is convinced that Bob will do the right thing. However, her child is referred to as a “bastard” and Bob has to stand trial to prove whether or not he was a deserter at the time and fathered the child.

Added to the drama is the fact that British deserter Bob has led a band of rebels known as “The Sons of Liberty”, who fight in the night against royal officials who try to enforce unpopular laws. This takes place in Courage, New Hampshire, in a pre-revolutionary New England township.

The Bible is used as the measuring stick of justice, which is nice, and Sarah looks at Bob as a biblical magistrate, a protector. Will Bob do the right thing and marry Sarah and claim the child? Watch this dramatic story and find out. We are happy to award the film our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal.
