Hurleyville: Episode 4

With so much to do and so little time, Isabelle Harper (Rachael Harper) feels the continuous strain that the pressures of life cast upon her. Her over-zealous mother, Macy (Tatum Hubbard-Fullbright), isn't helping the matter either. Will Isabelle meet all the demands that life leads her way or will she lose not only her friends but her booming jewelry business. When Paul Keller (David Harper) tries to convince his parents to let him attend the "cool" church in Hurleyville, his parents do not budge. Paul tries every trick in the book to change his parents mind but to no avail. Paul's attitude begins to sour as his dad stands his ground. Will Dusty change his mind or will Paul have to attend "Old Rugged Cross" for the rest of his life?

Dove Review

Here is a rollicking, energetic and innocent story for your kids! It is refreshing and reveals the nature of kids perfectly.

The story begins with Pebbles the dog escaping. Soon the search is on. When the dog is found, she lets loose with a few gas bombs, the kind of humor that some kids will snicker at.

As the story goes on it makes a point, that some churches rely on old fashioned visual aids while other churches are using contemporary methods to reach kids including live concerts and technology. In one scene meant to be funny, a preacher preaches with a bit of the old fashioned fire and brimstone approach and several kids are seen sitting in their pews with big-eyed looks of terror on their faces. The young actors do a great job and I admit the scene brought a smile to my face.

The movie makes a statement about the “heart burning” for Christ and includes wonderful themes of forgiveness and keeping a passion in serving the Lord. We are happy to award this imaginative DVD our Dove Seal for all ages. These kids will give a tickle to your funny bone!
