The Measure of a Man

After being raised in an Oklahoma orphanage, 15 year-old Donald makes his way to California during the depression. He meets Emogene, the daughter of poor migrant farm laborers, and together they set out to break the cycle of poverty and ignorance. This is the inspiring true story of Donald P. Bailey, a charming, and eccentric father of... nine, who's charisma and optimism set him apart from the average dad. But his golden voice made him a legend to his posterity for generations. His unique life is remembered through the eyes of his daughter, Elizabeth.

Dove Review

This is a good family movie that will bring tears to your eyes! The story is about a man named Donald and his legacy. He was a family man who loved his family above all other earthly things. His story is told by his middle child, Lizzie.

We see Donald raise his family and then learn of the lasting impressions he leaves with them. We see his past including fighting in World War II, getting married, etc.

The themes include being a good family man, appreciating your dad and parents who are only here on Earth for a short time, and appreciating the little things in life. The film, based on true life incidents, is humorous and entertaining while making some good points. We are pleased to award this movie our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal for all ages.
