Dove Review

Hercules is half god, half human and is based on a character from Greek mythology. He is known for his superhuman strength and courage, but makes the mistake of falling in love with a woman who is betrothed to the king. All manner of trouble awaits brave Hercules as he seeks to win her heart and save his own skin.

The story is fast-moving and filled with a never-ending array of gods, goddesses and five-headed serpents. The young woman he loves is determined not to marry the king, Hercules or anyone else she does not love. She is strong, determined and unwavering in her desire to commit herself to her one true love. Hercules is strong, athletic and handsome, but it is not enough to win her love on mere physical attributes alone.

The characters encounter wild boar, a few fights, mythical beasts and there is much clashing of swords. The advisers of the kingdom try to predict the future by using a crystal ball and consulting an oracle, but without success. Hercules is the hero and despite the cunning plan of those who seek his demise, the story portrays him as brave, showing strong resolve and determination in the midst of great adversity. The young lady he fancies is depicted as a determined woman who believes fighting does not solve everything, and your heart matters more than appearances. Strong values are displayed throughout. Families will enjoy this film and we are happy to award the Dove Family Approved Seal for viewers of 12+.
