Dove Review

Johnny is a Mnemonic- a smuggler, in 2021, when the entire world is computer dependant. He has an implant in his head that allows him to upload and smuggle data. After receiving an upgrade to allow more “storage”, he gets overloaded by a group of scientists/clients. He must download the information (which happens to be the cure for a major disease) within 48 hours or his brain will be destroyed. Johnny Mnemonic is a seemingly typical Keanu Reeves film…weird! I wasn’t too sure at first, but at mid-movie, after I grasped all the computer jargon, I became somewhat interested. The storyline was good, but the acting left a little to be desired. There was a lot of violence such as people being shot with machine guns and a couple people being electrocuted. It is difficult to describe the feel of the movie…very strange. But due to the violence, the film is not approved. It should also be noted that a man calls himself Jesus, and says such things as, “Behold your savior,” and “Jesus time.” A guard is also a transvestite.
