For those viewers that ever dreamed a dream bigger than it seemed possible to attain, you will love Skye’s determination and Jason’s perseverance as they find a way to make things happen by being truthful and authentic, and rejecting dishonesty and the easy route, to fulfill their dreams. Skye (Kelly Van Der Burg) a budding and very ethical designer, is fired when she condemns the bad workmanship of the clothing her employer is marketing and exploiting for profit only. But Patrick (Kym Wyatt McKenzie), her boyfriend has some good news … he’s been promoted at Froman’s, a national department store chain, and Skye is delighted! Especially since he did say a promotion would mean they could start to plan their forever life together. But when Skye mentions this is that time, he stammers through the next few sentences with no intention of commitment. Skye pulls away and wants some time to process yet another excuse.
Fired, and on the verge of breaking up with Patrick, she is happy to see her former colleague, Amanda (Zarrin Darnell-Martin) who brings a very much needed cupcake. Who doesn’t need a cupcake at a time like this? Amanda is drawn to the huge display of materials and drawings displayed on a bulletin board and Skye excitedly tells her she is ready to start her own fashion line, a dream instilled by her dear grandmother. Amanda is discouraging, but Skye is determined to make her dream come true.
Patrick is all excited to tell Skye that his manager saw her sketches and loved them. It’s an opportunity to show her clothing line in hundreds of stores across the country. Skye is not sure she wants help from Patrick…
As Skye wheels her rack of clothing on the sidewalk, she accidentally bumps into Jason Ryder (Benjamin Sutherland), spilling coffee on his jacket. Skye whips it off his back and insists on cleaning it and Jason is obviously mesmerized by her.
With pressure from Patrick to sell $10,000 worth of clothing as proof there is a market for her designs and securing a foot in the door with Froman’s, Skye is even more determined to make it work. Jason, who is in the business of developing start-ups and then selling them for profit, is there to help and the mobile clothing boutique, Maybelle’s hits the streets!
As Jason and Skye work through the issues and Patrick keeps interfering with bigger and better opportunities, Jason is done with helping Skye and gives up on the business and on her. When Skye discovers Patrick’s scheme, she cannot be a part of dishonesty by taking credit for a design she did not create just to gain the Froman contract and their relationship is over.
As Jason prepares to search out yet another start-up company conquest, and Skye is left contemplating her next move to fulfill her dream, they both realize it’s time to be honest with each other and let their hearts take over because love is always in fashion!
