This is a dreamy, sweet, charming love story that wasn’t supposed to happen. Be prepared for a romantic journey that will have you wishing for a twist in the plot as two people navigate carefully around their feelings for each other for the sake of “the show.” You won’t be disappointed! Dove-approved for All Ages.
A New York City girl and talented producer, Claire Bardoz (Donna Benedicto) of the reality dating TV show, “Head Over Heels,” spends her days behind the scenes assembling material for epic love stories while living vicariously through her own lack of love life. After a breakup with one of the show’s previous contestants, Claire is determined never to date anyone she works with ever again! As the casting for next season starts, Claire is elated when she receives an application from Joe Bennett (Jesse Hutch), a handsome farmer who is not like any other contestant…a farmer, well-read, smart… but apparently doesn’t watch TV…! Blaze Carlow (Julien Bailey), Exec Producer, gives Claire no choice but to get to New Jersey and determine whether Joe is show material…the next season hinges on casting the right suitor to bring a new look and add some zing to the show.
But when Claire discovers the application was completely orchestrated by Joe’s overly zealous sister, Addison (Tanya Clarke), and Joe is blindsided, he adamantly refuses to have anything to do with a reality show. But Claire is persuasive and tempts him with the dollars that come with the offer and that the costs of much-needed farm upgrades will also be covered, Joe begrudgingly agrees. Calvin (Jake Lewis), Joe’s pin-up calendar-featured friend and firefighter farmhand, can’t believe how lucky Joe is to choose his life partner from a bevy of beauties, but Joe is skeptical and not impressed.
As the show’s crew sets up the themed scenery, screen tests, and casting, Claire and Joe are spending more time together, and after an impromptu visit to the museum that has preserved her favorite author’s historical home, Joe inspires Claire to reignite her dream of becoming a writer. Claire is in awe as to how easily the words come as she begins writing again.
As Claire is forced to face her feelings for Joe, she is torn between watching Joe fall in love with someone else… and telling him how she feels. But the story takes an unexpected turn as Joe and Calvin hatch an alternate plan much to Blaze’s delight, that leaves Joe and Claire in the clear to pursue their dreams … without the need of an audience or end credits.
The Dove Take:
True love cannot be orchestrated, rushed or manipulated…it’s often a slow burn that starts unexpectedly and leads to the most meaningful and everlasting happiness. Be ready to embrace and recognize that sign in your own life!
