Paws to the Rescue

Harry Burton is going to fly to Washington, D.C., to testify against his former employer, which could hardly hurt the whole tobacco industry. For two days, Harry and his wife Shelly have left their son Charlie home in the big house with their maid Maria and their dogs Samson and Hercules. Dove Review

Paws to the Rescue is a hilarious caper gone bad for the crooks and a triumph for the dogs! Dogs take on the villains, who have kidnapped Harry Burton’s son to try to prevent him from testifying against the tobacco industry. However, the two thugs, Carny (Thomas Garner) and Slick (Brad J. Sergi), who are sent to nab the boys, are inept when they meet the dogs. The physical comedy and pratfalls happen often and are always creatively done. One of the crooks winds up with his head through a wall, taking the place of the giant antlers that hung there. The dogs get the credit for this victory, as well as grabbing the keys that the crooks need, with the canines determined to keep them!

A lot of the fun of the movie is the fact that these two crooks—Carny and Slick—are not the sharpest pencils in the can. The dogs seem to always be a step—or paw—ahead of them. These wonderful mutts even high-five each other when they nail a victory against the thieves. Carny and Slick are so bumbling that Carny even grabs Slick’s hair at one point, thinking he has nabbed one of the dogs!

You won’t be able to sit through this movie without laughing and cracking a smile.

The Dove Take

There is a lot of physical comedy and slapstick in the movie, with characters being slapped like The Three Stooges) schtick. And the characters often fall and run into things—all in good fun. There are more shenanigans than you can shake a stick at in this movie! And the father doing the right thing at the hearing is a nice moral in the film. We are very pleased to award our Dove-Approved All Ages Seal to this movie.
