Dove Review

Kenneth Copeland plays “Poppa” in the film and he is magnificent, a former crime lord who reads the Bible in the opening sequence and decides he must fully follow Christ. It his passion to reach his son, Junior, for Jesus but his son says, “To H*** with you” and decides he is the new crime lord since his father is turning his back on his former life. Poppa is grieved but moves on with his life, keeping his hopes alive for his son.

The film features several dramatic sequences, including a pregnant woman who wants to marry her boyfriend and is being pressured to have an abortion, a woman who over doses as her daughter cries out for help, a man who stays away from home, drinking, only to have his wife move out, a pastor and his supporters who want to hold a rally for Jesus in the community, despite the threats from “Junior” and his evil and violent supporters.

This movie is rooted and grounded in reality and includes the previously mentioned curse of “To H*** with you” as well as scenes of graphic drug use, the sniffing of cocaine, in addition to some violent scenes. We are awarding this film our Dove “Faith-Based” Seal due to its emphasis on redemption and faith and a life-changing rally for Christ.
