I didn’t see the first film, “Are We There Yet?” but this one stands on its own even if the viewer hasn’t seen the earlier movie. There is a lot to like in this film. Ice Cube does a nice job in portraying Nick, a man who is under stress, and a bit edgy, yet likable. When his wife learns she is expecting, Nick decides it is time to move her and their two kids from their apartment and into a home. Enter Chuck Mitchell Jr. (John C. McGinley), a real estate agent who also happens to be a contractor. Nick winds up needing both as he begins to experience serious problems in his new “dream” house. The mystery is whether or not Chuck is really a friend or a swindler.
This movie is family friendly with very mild language, and enough laughs to go around. There are a couple of double entendres which will go over the young kids’ heads. In a nice scene, which ends up funny, the family prays at the dinner table before a few house problems develop. Four Doves for sure!
