This 31-minute documentary packs a lot into its short time frame. Using animation, Biblical stories including futuristic prophecies of end times and the eternal heaven, as well as stirring music, it packs a powerful punch. Viewers will be dazzled and hopefully challenged by their curiosity to search the scriptures to put end-time puzzle pieces together. However, this documentary does a good job in painting a Biblical picture of events yet to occur, as well as the history of creation.
Nicely narrated by Shannon Hemmings, the picture starts off with the animated clouds of the cosmos. We see two hands (the hands of God) which begin the creative process. It’s stated upfront that “God is love.”
We see the celestial city and Lucifer, a powerful angel, who wanted to be equal with God, his creator! He leads a rebellion in the ranks, and he is cast out of heaven. God turned His attention to creating the earth following this historic moment, and we see birds, the ocean, and underwater creatures.
Next up is the creation of man, and we see lungs formed in the body of earth which is about to become human. The viewer will see muddy parts on man and even intestines!
Such moments as Adam petting a tiger shows the tranquility and peace on the earth before man fell, tempted by Lucifer and having made a terrible choice with dire consequences. Eve is shown being created from Adam’s rib, and then her taking the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and passing it on to her husband who also partakes in the rebellious act. God had clearly forbidden them to eat the fruit from that tree.
Later generations are shown as God sends a flood to destroy much of the earth, with only Noah and his family surviving after Noah built an ark according to God’s specifications. In the re-enactments people are seen underwater, having died from the vast waters.
A skeleton with partial skin is seen. Parents will need to make informed decisions as it might be too intense for some children under the age of twelve. Later in the documentary, the birth of Christ is revealed, and hope is aflame once again for man to walk in a relationship with God. Nails are pounded in Christ’s hands and blood is seen on the animated crown of thorns. But, thankfully, the resurrection of Christ is also seen.
The last days are also vividly portrayed, including the judgement of God and bodies being resurrected in the cemetery. Lucifer’s last rebellion shows the rebels being consumed with fire and we hear their screams as they face eternal punishment. Finally, two passages from the book of Revelation states the Lord is coming back quickly, and “Even so, come, Lord Jesus” (Revelation 22:20.)
Content Analysis: The documentary is based exclusively on the Bible and focuses on the creation of the earth and man, Noah and the ark, the arrival of Christ and the price he paid on the cross for man’s redemption, and the future events according to prophecy from the Bible. It does include inward views of man during creation, and the screams of the rebels who are judged by fire. Some of the scenes are intense.
Think About It: Good discussion topics include talking about what the Bible says about man’s fall and redemption, the price Christ paid by going to the cross for man, and the future judgment of God and His eternal kingdom, reigning with all believers.
The Dove Take: This wonderful documentary accurately describes what the scriptures say about the creation of Earth, man, his fall, and the redemption Christ offers as well as future end-time events. It does feature a few intense scenes of the insides of bodies and the screams of the damned. Parents should make their own informed decisions about their children viewing it.
