This whimsical Christmas tale warms the heart and delights the eyes! A young minister named David struggles with his faith after a family tragedy. This story takes place quite some time ago and the long dresses and old horses and carriages add to the visuals. The movie has a definite authentic feel to it.
Eventually David goes back into the ministry in a small town. The people of the church have strong traditions and David attempts to do things differently but this doesn’t seem to be working. According to a legend, an angel came down and blessed a candle and now whoever lights it and prays will receive an answer from God. David emphasizes that the faith in the prayer is what matters, not a candle in and of itself. When a lady needs a roof David helps out and soon others do too as the people begin to realize that they can be an answer to each other’s prayers when they come together as a community. The movie’s climactic scene restores the minister’s faith in the power of prayer as he finds himself once again desperate for the need of divine intervention. This terrific movie features Susan Boyle as a singer and actress and she does a remarkable job. We are pleased to award this fabulous movie our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal for all ages. We encourage everyone to go see “A Christmas Candle” and believe you will want to light one yourself when you’re done.
