Dove Review

This is a story that offers hope when the pain in a person’s life is almost unbearable. Young Jake (B. Bradenton Harper) is rebellious and angry with his dad for moving the family from Chicago (away from his beloved Cubs and Wrigley Field) to Minnesota where they live at and care for the Providence River Campground. Despite his anger at doing chores and living in a campground, Jake soon meets a boy his own age named Peter Owens (Blade Yocum) and his father Brian (Dariush Moslemi). Peter and Jake soon become fast friends. However, a tragic event occurs and Jake’s life is transformed. Soon he finds himself trying to minister to someone who is grieving and in great pain. It should be noted that B. Bradenton Harper as Jake and Blade Yocum as Peter turn in excellent performances as the two young friends.

This inspirational film shows that God is the one to trust when pain is all around and, as a man who suffered much once wrote, one can say, “It is well with my soul” even when circumstances are hard. The theme is clearly revealed that God will take a difficult path and lead a person to His divine will if that person continues to trust Him. We are pleased to award this remarkable film five Doves, our best rating, and our Dove Seal for ages twelve plus. For anyone who has struggled in life, this movie offers hope!
