The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

The film begins as Katniss Everdeen (Lawrence) has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark (Hutcherson). Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a Victor's Tour of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow (Sutherland) prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games, The Quarter Quell - a competition that could change Panem forever.

Dove Review

This follow up film to “The Hunger Games” is a darker version than the first one. The Capitol is determined to keep hope down amongst the people and particularly Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) who is the symbol of that hope. President Snow (Donald Sutherland) has former victors meet in the Quarter Quell for the 75th Annual Hunger Games. An alliance forms and Katniss becomes more determined to stand up to the Capitol as they continue to hurt the ones she loves. The movie features humor, a lot of action and a thickening plot. There are many dangers she and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) must face. And their relationship, despite a few rocky twists, begins to deepen.

The Mockingjay dress that Katniss wears on TV encourages the people but angers President Snow. Despite the themes of sacrifice and loyalty to those one loves regrettably the violence hits a level three in our content rating, with some killing and blood, and therefore we are unable to award the movie our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal.
