This is a wonderful and poignant film based on the life of Jesus from the Gospel of St. Luke. It is solid in its content and contains a straightforward telling of the life of Jesus, beginning with the creation of Adam from the Earth to the story of Abraham and the prophecy of the coming Messiah to the time of Jesus’ birth to Jesus’ appearance to be baptized by John and onward to the crucifixion and resurrection. The movie contains scenes of Peter being sent out for a great catch, Jesus reading the prophecy in Isaiah 61 referring to himself, the calling of the 12 disciples, the calming of the storm at sea and other wonderful events recorded by Luke.
The movie contains scenes of Jesus being whipped (while wearing a garment) and struck and led away to be crucified. Although it shows the nails being driven in and some blood, it is not gratuitous and seems to always hold back before becoming graphically violent. We are recommending the film for ages twelve plus and award “The Jesus Film” our Dove “Faith Friendly” Seal. The restoration the movie has undergone makes it look pristine and the colors are vivid. Don’t miss seeing this one!
