This movie is a modern telling of the Prodigal Son story and is about a father who never gives up on his son. Jake never appreciated his father’s sacrifices until he falls into bad times after he loses his inheritance on wasteful spending and on a fly-by-night company. Just as in the Biblical story Jake’s brother is jealous when the father accepts his prodigal son’s return with open arms.
The movie features a theme of forgiveness and the fact that a man can change. The prodigal even gets a kiss from his father, clothes, shoes, a ring on his finger, and a party, just as in the Biblical story. We are happy to award this movie our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal for ages twelve plus due to several drinking scenes. Here is a Biblical story for modern audiences.
