This is a terrific western movie with a twist, the theme of redemption! I thought the story was well written and the acting superb, especially Drew Waters as Henry Myers and Erin Bethea as Marilyn Sullivan. The direction is crisp and vivid. This is a movie I enjoyed watching. It features a good story, great action, and the redemption of a criminal.
Henry Myers takes part in a bank robbery but wants no one harmed and becomes angry when one of the robbers shoots an innocent man. Henry flees with the money and hides it under a plank in the church. The minister, Pastor Shane, suddenly walks in and surprises him and Henry trips and accidentally shoots him. He rushes to the minister who tells him that any man can change. These words haunt him, especially since he had just seen a painting in the church of a gunfighter kneeling at the feet of Jesus, seeking mercy. Henry takes off and soon his fellow criminals are on his trail as they want the money. Henry is shot and winds up being picked up by a young woman and her two children and they take him to their home to care for him. Marilyn is a widow and her kindness and Bible reading begin to soften his heart. This parallels the story of the Good Samaritan. There are challenges which lie ahead but Henry truly begins to change. He is not sure he deserves God’s mercy but he is reminded that God’s love washes all things away. Soon the other bank robbers are again on his trail and due to this it places the family that helped him in jeopardy. The actress who plays Marilyn’s daughter, Laura (Jaden Roberts), is also excellent as is Ezra Proch who plays her brother Will.
This movie features a powerful conclusion and we gladly award it our “Family-Approved” Seal for ages twelve plus, due to a few scenes of violence which do show some blood but are not gratuitous. This is a film you just might want to watch more than once, it is that good.
