“Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return” is a 3D-animated musical based on the adventures books by Roger Stanton Baum, the great-grandson of L. Frank Baum. A continuation of one of the world’s most popular and beloved fairy tales, “Legends of Oz” finds Dorothy (Lea Michele) waking to post-tornado Kansas, only to be whisked back to Oz to try to save her old friends the Scarecrow (Dan Aykroyd), the Lion (Jim Belushi), the Tin Man (Kelsey Grammer) and Glinda (Bernadette Peters) from a devious new villain, the Jester (Martin Short). Wiser the owl (Oliver Platt), Marshall Mallow (Hugh Dancy), China Princess (Megan Hilty) and Tugg the tugboat (Patrick Stewart) join Dorothy on her latest magical journey through the colorful landscape of Oz to restore order and happiness to Emerald City. The Land of Oz came into view many years ago, when I was a very young child. Now Oz is back in this wonderful animated film. Dorothy is once again waking up after a twister affects her home. Meanwhile, back in Oz, an evil jester is destroying the colorful city. The lovable trio-Scarecrow, Tin man and the Lion, need to get a message to Dorothy for her help. So by the way of “Over the Rainbow” Dorothy is transported back to the land of Oz where she meets some new friends to help her in this troublesome situation.Imagination is a great thing for everyone and the Oz story installs just that. This animated movie with its wide variety of voices of many well loved stars brings back the fun and fantasy entertainment for young and old alike. It also teaches some important lessons about having friendships and working together to help others in the time of need.
