“Stolen Goods” has it all! This western features the hard-hitting John Wayne as John Caruthers, who puts up a good fight, chases bad guys on horseback, and meets a girl named Betty who he hopes to win in the end.
The story begins with a downpour and Caruthers coming in from the rain. He hides out in a corner of the hotel to rest and later that night spots a man robbing the safe. Later he winds up being pursued by a sheriff who doesn’t know he is innocent, but they become friends and the sheriff aids Caruthers in helping out a town in trouble. The main trouble stems from Melgrove, who plans to steal the town from the people for peanuts because he knows what they don’t know: there is gold on their land. Melgrove kidnaps Betty when she overhears his devious plan and it is up to Caruthers to rescue her.
“Stolen Goods” is an enjoyable film and we are pleased to award it our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal for ages twelve plus.
