The Voice of the Martyrs presents the poignant story of Abbey, a young teen girl from Tennessee who travels to modern China with her photojournalist father who is on assignment. She is thrilled to connect with a Chinese girl much like herself who enjoys shopping, seeing historical places, making new friends and who has a strong faith in Christ. While they share much in common, Abbey is shocked to learn her new friend does not have the same freedom to live her faith without persecution the way Abbey does in America. Abbey’s naiveté becomes apparent when she inadvertently puts the lives of her new friends in grave danger with the authorities in Beijing, when it becomes known to the police that they are involved in the underground church and smuggling Bibles. The powerful message of this film offers a brief glimpse into the real plight of persecuted Christians around the world. Courage, bravery and a willingness to stand for what is right at the risk of one’s life are strong focuses of the story. The daily struggle to live as a Christ follower in a restricted nation is often an untold reality to those who live in the free world. “Agent Abbey” provides an effective avenue to bring greater clarity to the story of their lives. We are pleased to approve this film with our “Family-Friendly” Seal for viewers ages 12 and above.
