Dove Review

It is not often that someone sacrifices every comfort for the sake of devoted service to the less fortunate, but that is exactly what Father Clemente Vismara chose to do with his life. A 20th-century Catholic missionary to what was formerly Burma but is now Myanmar, Father Vismara set out to share his faith through not only loving society’s downcast but practically meeting their daily needs. He rescued numerous orphans, even purchasing some from parents who sold them to purchase drugs. In his brief life he brought hope to a people who had none, and transformed a community. His legacy of self-sacrificing service is remembered still by those he left behind as they continue to carry out his example decades later.

“Father Clemente Vismara: One Life is Not Enough” tells the story of Father Vismara’s life and missionary work. Many of the orphans he rescued share stories of how he helped them personally. As a Catholic community, these individuals speak of traditional Catholic beliefs such as praying to the now-deceased Father Vismara, who has since been declared a saint. Still, the documentary clearly depicts Father Vismara’s deep and unwavering faith in God to provide for him in every way.

This film testifies to Father Vismara’s devoted love for others, showing exactly how God can use those who are committed to Him. The uplifting message of selflessly helping others is an often neglected priority in our modern culture, which makes this film necessary and encouraging for audiences of all ages. The Dove Foundation is pleased to award “Father Clemente Vismara: One Life is Not Enough” the Dove “Faith Friendly” seal of approval. This educational biography is an inspirational story worth watching!
