In this episode of “Shirley Temple’s Storybook Collection,” Shirley Temple presents George MacDonald’s classic novel, “The Princess and the Goblins.” When the king bans the goblins to the underground so that his daughter, Princess Irene, can live in peace and safety, the goblins vow to get revenge by Irene’s 18th birthday.

Shirley Temple plays the lead role of Princess Irene in this three-act play. Shirley’s Storybook series aired from 1959 until 1961. Each episode presents a charming tale from classic literature in the form of a dramatic play with three acts.
