“Camp New: Humble Pie” is a hoot! It involves some outlandish pranks and jokes from the campers, while they focus on God’s love and word. As Penny Baker (Nicole Mauck) states, love never fails. The campers deal with various issues and one of the issues is humility. Archer Ace (Chad Goodwin), thinks highly of himself and always refers to himself as “Archer Ace” instead of “me” or “I.” Someone or something dyes his hair purple and Archer Ace is determined to find out who did it. Could it have been the dog? Archer Ace winds up going through a competition against Penny, which includes running around the lake, a penguin walk, and a quick dash to the finish line. Archer winds up eating some humble pie. In one scene, a camper coughs, and every time she does it causes the “cough light” to go on and off. It is a humorous scene.
Other segments include the lesson to pick up trash and funny scenes such as when Penny lifts two bowls of cool whip to “train” and get in shape for her competition. She also jokes that one should shod one’s feet with the Gospel of Peace, or that things could get pretty “stinky!” In addition, she wears a fish on her cap that looks like Nemo, and states, “This hat is quite a catch!” Again, the good, wholesome fun is mixed with life lessons, such as being honest when you lose something, and the need for patience. It also features various scripture references and themes. Young kids and early teens will love it.
We are awarding this wonderful fun-filled movie our Faith-Friendly Seal for all ages. “Camp New: Humble Pie” will make you feel like you are at camp, right along with the others.
