Starring a fresh-faced David Henrie as Cory and Emmy Award-winner Beau Bridges as his coach, “1000 to 1: The Cory Weissman Story” is an emotionally riveting, sports-centered family drama that promises to inspire, uplift, and entertain audiences.

When we first meet Cory, we learn he’s been a successful high school athlete who’s scored a thousand points in high school.

Now, he’s eager to do the same for the Gettysburg college team.

His life drastically changes, however, after he sufferes a devastating stroke, leaving his left side paralyzed. Viewers watch as Cory struggles with grief, denial, and even depression. With the support of his family, friends, and coach, the young man works tirelessly to regain his life, persevering through endless hours of physical therapy, rehab, and a series of setbacks.

In the triumphant ending, Cory learns that life isn’t all about being a successful athlete – and everything happens for a reason.

While it’s overall a wholesome film, “1000 to 1” tackles difficult issues like depression, disability, and even death. There are some disturbing scenes where Cory is shown convulsing from seizures, near death in the hospital, and undergoing intense and painful physical therapy.

Ultimately, the film focuses on the power of perseverance, family, and overcoming obstacles, whatever they may be. Cory is an excellent role model for children, bravely fighting to reach his goals despite tremendous odds. It’s an inspiring, feel-good film that may have you reaching for the tissue box.
