November Christmas is a touching story full of rich relationships and an overarching message of hope and unity.
Vanessa Marks (Emily Alyn Lind) is a bubbly 8-year-old girl with a zest for life. She has a supportive and loving family, lives in an idyllic small town, and thoroughly enjoys every moment. However, Vanessa is fighting an increasingly difficult battle with cancer, which seems to be draining away her strength day by day. Knowing that there is no time to waste, her creative father, Tom (John Corbitt), teams up with thoughtful neighbor Jess (Sam Elliot) and the entire community to move up the holidays and give Vanessa an experience she’ll never forget. This film is a beautifully woven tapestry of interesting and endearing characters, subplots, and meaningful messages. As the film progresses, we become acquainted with each character’s struggles and strengths as well as the unique relationships between characters. Each character goes on their own sort of journey as Vanessa’s journey progresses. Themes of loss, forgiveness, and hope are dealt with in a tactful and engaging way. These themes serve as a tool to highlight how powerful unity is, and what fantastic results can be achieved when we all work toward a common goal. November Christmas is not just another sappy holiday movie. It’s a heartwarming film that wins you over with true creative merit and well-rounded storytelling. For these reasons and so many more, we are proud to award November Christmas the Dove Seal of Approval for All Ages.
