Dove Review

To loosely quote a character in the film, you can spend your life dipping your feet in the water, or dive in. Dolphin Kick does just that: It dives into adventure and exploration bravely, following two children (Tyler Jade Nixon and Axle McCoy) who encounter a dolphin separated from its family. The film isn’t just inspired for its idyllic scenery but champions courage for oneself and support from friends and family.

As far as trajectory goes, the more time the children spend with the dolphin, Echo, the more compassionate they become and the more courageously they act—especially Luke (McCoy), who we learn has experienced trauma and the loss of his mother. But it is with the good spirit of Echo and a community of new friends that Luke is able to overcome his obstacles, and younger viewers will likely be inspired to challenge themselves too. With loads of lessons to be had, the film is Dove-Approved for All Ages.

The Dove Take
