The Synopsis:

Miles Morales becomes the Spider-Man of his reality and crosses paths with his counterparts from other dimensions to stop a threat to all reality.

The Review:

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse may well go down as one of the year’s biggest and best surprises. The film, shot in an audacious juggling act of multimedia animation, stylistically speaks loud enough on its own, as if you were a 12-year-old all over again and flipping through comic book pages with glowing fervor and excitement. Light on its feet and supremely funny, this new Spider-Man delivers as entertainment.

Then the filmmakers keep the fun going, the ball rolling. This Spider-Man does not rely on action and swift jokes alone. The writing team behind the film has created something special here, clever and nimble, but more importantly, in tune with values that are awakening in today’s movies. In a culture so attached to “chosen heroes,” the everyman destined for something greater (Peter Parker is even such an example), the film directs our attention to those who volunteer their story freely, heroes unexpecting of their greatness. It is yet another reason Spider-Man feels so refreshing.
