When there is a rumor there is gold near Drover’s Run, Regan begins to see dollar signs. Regan wants to turn Drover’s Run into a strip-mining site But Tess believes she wants to ruin the ranch. Regan believes digging for the gold will help alleviate Tess and Nick’s financial problems. With a legal statement saying she can begin to dig up 250 hectares of land as soon as possible, Regan informs Tess who worries about the future of the ranch and its legacy. This angers Kate, Jodi and Stevie and they threaten Regan using guns to stop digging for gold. Tess tries desperately to solve this legal mess. When Dave approaches Regan about teaming up to save the ranch together, he tries to romance her to distract her from digging, but to no avail.
Tess and her sisters devise a plan to block the area using their cattle. Regan, sitting down, gets bitten by a snake. Tess and her sister help her recover. Despite their tumultuous relationship, Tess allows Regan to stay at the ranch while she recovers. Because of her kindness, Regan decides to stop her mining claim and return all of her evidence and claims to Tess. Before Regan leaves, Dave gives her a token of his love. Tess sets off to reunite with Nick who is away.
This episode focuses on Integrity when Kate says, “this is about doing the right thing by your friends.” Tess wants to abide by the laws to resolve the situation. But other characters use deception and resort to stealing to get what they want. The concept of forgiveness is explored when Tess says, “sometimes you have to let go of the bad things to make room for the good things.”
