Midway

The Dove Take:

While Midway remains true to our brave WWII American heroes, excessive language and war violence are constant throughout the film.

Dove Review

The Synopsis:

The story of the Battle of Midway, told by the leaders and the sailors who fought it.

The Review:

It’s no secret that the bombing on Pearl Harbor opened up the Pacific Coast to potential Japanese control. The casualties and carriers they destroyed left the US military in shambles, but at the same time, it stoked a patriotic counterattack that Japan didn’t expect.

Rear admiral of the US Navy, Edwin Layton (Patrick Wilson), had predicted the Pearl Harbor attack, but no one would listen. Following Pearl Harbor’s attack, he predicted that the Japanese would attack another US military base, Midway, to take full control of the Pacific Coast, keeping America sidelined from WWII.

This time, Layton’s new boss, Chester Nimitz (Woody Harrelson), listened. With the help of brave fighter pilots like Dick Best (Ed Skrein), the Battle of Midway helped America regain the upper hand in the war.

Midway showcases a solid cast, including well-known faces like Dennis Quaid, Mandy Moore, and Nick Jonas. The historical details are accurate and honor the original American heroes, producing an action-packed movie that reminds viewers just how brave our military is.

Unfortunately, due to “sailor talk” language and war violence, this film is Not Dove-approved.
