Dove Review

If you’re looking for a coherent storyline in Haunted Transylvania 3, you’ve come to the wrong place. If, however, you are looking for a stream of music videos, replete with dancing skeleton, boogying pumpkin heads and the occasional moonwalking clown — basically all things Halloween set to music — then Haunted Transylvania 3 is what you seek.

It should be clear that the makers of this video make no bones about being Michael Jackson fans. From the outset, anybody familiar with the late king of pop’s Thriller video will recognize the dance moves as being liberally lifted from that iconic production. In fact, an animated version of Michael in the spooky makeup he wore in the video is featured, though not the song itself.

Clearly, it’s aimed at younger viewers. If Halloween represents nothing more than harmless fun to you, you’ll enjoy it. If it represents something spiritually sinister, as for many Christians it does, you won’t. Strictly judging it from its component parts by which we evaluate films and videos, it’s not harmful sexually, language-wise, in terms of violence, drugs or nudity. But it doesn’t have any faith either. Corny rhymes abound, however.

Therefore, in keeping with the way other Halloween-themed movies have been rated by Dove in the past, this one merits a Dove-approved for All Ages seal.
