This is an awesome, animated adventure with audacious characters! Sea Horses is a fun watch, filled with rich and funny characters and the theme that everyone is special. We open at Fish Tale Reef, the local school and there is a lot of animated discussion about the previous night’s storm, which was actually a hurricane! Professor Shark explains the storm and is happy everyone was able to attend class.
Good friends Fifi and Trigger accidentally swim the wrong way after class. They’re so caught up in their conversation that they get lost! They’re not sure how to get back to Fish Tale Reef, but they meet a sea horse named Hobbs, that is also lost but with an additional problem–he has amnesia. Trigger, also being a sea horse, has compassion on him, as does Fifi, and they decide to try to help him find his way home. The problem is when they start toward home, Fifi and Trigger get lost–again!
There is an exclusive search party that is set up to find Fifi and Trigger and many of the students in their class join up for the rescue efforts. The movie is literally a “sea” of delightful characters, including whales, “Toothy” the shark, who is a friend to Fifi and Trigger, as well as several others such as a stingray. When Hobbs sees a crab for the first time, he says, “I’ve never seen anyone with legs before!” The humor is peppered in here and there and works well.
The plot is similar to that of Finding Nemo but it stands on its own with various characters and subplots. The fish use various fun phrases like, “Harry Scary!” and “Tail Slap!” It is a wholesome adventure that the kiddies will enjoy. And the parents will enjoy it too. We are delighted to present this fun-filled movie our Dove-approved seal for All Ages.
The Dove Take:
This is a movie that shows the importance of friends and buddies and makes the point, in a fun way, that everyone is special in their own way.
