Dove Review

This animated movie moves full-steam ahead with energy, action, funny characters, and the humor involved in two weasels trying to make their chicken neighbors their dinner! They don’t care if it’s stewed chicken, roasted chicken, or chicken gumbo-they just want chicken for dinner tonight!

Slim is the tall thin weasel that is always plotting the next move for he and his buddy Glutton, who is short and chubby and not the brightest weasel to ever live. Come to think of it, neither is Slim! Slim comes up with the idea to teach martial arts to a chicken named Free Range in order to subdue him and have him for their next meal. The problem is-Free Range knows more martial arts than Slim and Glutton do. Other plots fail as well as even Small Fry, a small chick, figures out how to outsmart Slim and Glutton. Think Looney Tunes and the coyote’s pursuit of the Road Runner. Despite Slim’s belief that the chickens are going to suffer a worse fate than stuffing, it never happens!

There is some slapstick violence in the movie with a few characters slapping each other, and Slim and Glutton pursuing the chickens with a hatchet or knife but the chickens always manage to make the weasels look pretty foolish. The comedic violence is really the only minor content element of any note other than a few characters calling others “idiot” and “moron” on a couple of occasions. This good-time animated adventure features all sorts of animals (even an alligator) not to mention aliens! We are happy to award it our Dove seal for All Ages.

The Dove Take:

This action-packed and fast-paced adventure will delight kids and families with its animal characters, plot, and the bumbling of characters Slim and Glutton.
